A Costa Brava campsite, rewritten for German travellers

Sector: campsite and bungalow park Source market: Spain Target market: Germany Audit score 5/10 - 6 zones rewritten
Audit finding

The lowest score of the three audits, and the only one where the objection is not about tone but about absence. The audit records no pricing information for bungalows or pitches, vague descriptions without measurements or exact distances, and emotional language without factual substantiation.

The audited campsite homepage as published: navigation, hero image and headline, with the campsite identity removed
The page as published, above the fold. Campsite name, logo and registration number removed. The audit examined the copy, not the photography.
The situation

A campsite describing what a German reader wants measured

The same campsite homepage, in the English version the site serves to non-French markets. The German traveller reads it as a specification sheet, and finds none of the specifications. Every sentence he is given is an adjective; every question he arrives with is a number.

The audit scored the page 5 out of 10 for a German traveller, its lowest of the three. Three critical frictions, quoted from the audit:

  • no pricing information for bungalows or pitches
  • vague descriptions without measurements or exact distances
  • emotional language without factual substantiation

Where the audit answers each of these:

What changed, and why

The rewritten copy is in English, and that is a rule rather than a coincidence. The campsite publishes its homepage in several languages. The audit rewrites a page in the language that page is written in, and uses the nationality only to decide what it should say. This one ran on the English version of the site, so both columns below are English.

Register

The headline promises documentation, not a feeling. It is the only one of the three rewrites that names what the page contains rather than what the place is like. The audit removes promotional phrases such as ‘exceptional stay’ and ‘connect with nature’ and demotes emotional descriptors like ‘unique place’. What is left is an index.

ZONE 2 / 6

Opening paragraph: who the campsite says it is

Before

Welcome to Camping xxx, a resort in the heart of the Costa Brava. A unique place to relax, enjoy, and connect with nature. Discover one of the best campsites in Girona, located in one of the most authentic coastal villages of Catalonia.

After - German

Location and Setting

Camping xxx is a registered resort (KG-xxxxxx) in Calella de Palafrugell, Girona, on the Costa Brava. The campsite is open from March 27 to October 4, 2026. It is located 300 metres from the village centre and 1.8 km walking distance from Calella beach. Llafranc beach is 2.3 km away; Tamariu beach is 3.1 km away. GPS coordinates: 41°53'35.5"N 3°11'01.7"E.

Evidence

Four sentences, eleven verifiable facts, no adjective. The original opening said the resort was in the heart of the Costa Brava and a unique place to relax. The audit’s first promoted argument for this market is exact walking distances to beaches. Note where the numbers come from: the GPS coordinates and the registration number were already on the page, in the footer. Nothing was invented, everything was moved.

ZONE 3 / 6

Accommodation: bungalows and pitches

Before

Discover the Costa Brava of Catalonia during your family holidays. We offer different types of bungalows and pitches surrounded by Mediterranean pines for caravans, motorhomes, campers, and tents. Everything is designed for an exceptional stay at our resort.

Camping xxx offers accommodation for all options: from bungalows to pitches for those who enjoy holidays with motorhomes, caravans, campers, or tents. From here, the most authentic Costa Brava awaits you.

After - German

Accommodation Types

The campsite offers wooden bungalows and level pitches for tents, caravans, motorhomes and campers. Bungalows include kitchenette, bathroom, and covered porch. Pitch dimensions: minimum 80 m², electrical hook-up (10A), water point nearby. Full equipment lists and floor plans are available on each accommodation page.

Evidence

The pitch stops being a place and becomes a surface with an amperage. The audit asks for exact dimensions and equipment list for each bungalow category and files the request under Gründlichkeit: this family verifies space and functionality before committing. The 10-amp hook-up matters to a market that arrives with a caravan and knows what its appliances draw.

ZONE 4 / 6

Family, activities and facilities

Before

Our resort is ideal for families with children, with a wide range of children’s activities and for the whole family. Enjoy the gym and sports activities. We offer you guided and free excursions, hiking, cycling and Nordic walking, discovering amazing corners of the Costa Brava.

After - German

Facilities and Activities

Outdoor swimming pool (open 9:00-19:00, May to September, unheated), children’s playground, gym, and organised activities including guided hikes, cycling routes and Nordic walking. Aqua aerobics sessions run twice weekly in July and August. All activity schedules are published online before arrival.

Trust

The pool is declared unheated, in writing, on the homepage. That is the whole adjustment, and it is counter-intuitive: the audit treats an admitted constraint as a trust signal rather than a loss. A German family that discovers the water is cold on arrival will say so in a review; one that was told beforehand will not.

ZONE 5 / 6

Setting, beaches and surroundings

Before

Our camping resort offers a privileged Mediterranean environment, surrounded by the magnificent beaches of Llafranc, Tamariu, and Calella de Palafrugell. Whether in a bungalow, caravan, camper, or motorhome, explore the Costa Brava: beaches, coves, medieval villages, Mediterranean landscapes, a warm climate, and rich biodiversity.

After - German

Folded into zone 2. The German rewrite has no section about the surroundings: the beaches, coves and medieval villages became three distances in the Location paragraph.

Cultural fit

The section that the French rewrite expands is the one the German rewrite deletes. Both read the same source paragraph about privileged Mediterranean surroundings and rich biodiversity. One turned it into Cap Roig, Pals and a fish market; the other turned it into 1.8 km, 2.3 km and 3.1 km. Neither is wrong. They are the same information priced in two different currencies.

Meta description: German-friendly camping resort on Costa Brava with full pricing, exact distances to beaches, bungalow specs and pitch dimensions. Direct online booking.

Evidence

The audit is explicit that this section is a placeholder until the operator supplies the grid. Its reorganisation note reads: complete price list by period and accommodation type, not present on homepage or linked pages, to be added under Booking and Contact or via a prominent Full Tariff Grid button. The reason given is that German visitors require exhaustive pricing before proceeding to booking. The rewrite can name the link. It cannot fill it.

Which photographs to lead with, and which are missing

There is no before to show here. The site presents its photographs in upload order, with no ordering for any particular market. The same thirteen photographs, ranked in a different order, with captions that carry measurements.

What leads, for this market: the accommodation, then its porch, then the pitch. The setting comes fourth. This is the exact reverse of the French order on the same set, and the clearest single illustration of what the audit does.
Wooden bungalow with covered porch, blurred
Position 1 Standard wooden bungalow with covered porch, surrounded by pines. Interior layout and equipment list available on accommodation page. The product leads. The caption points to where the specifications live.
Bungalow porch detail, blurred
Position 2 Exterior detail of bungalow porch with table, chairs and potted plants. All bungalows include kitchenette and private bathroom. A decorative photograph is made to carry a factual sentence.
Motorhome pitch under pines, blurred
Position 3 Level pitch for motorhome (min. 80 m²) with 10A electrical hook-up and picnic table under pine trees. The same pitch the French audit captions for its shade is captioned here for its amperage.
The beach falls to position four. It is not demoted because it is unattractive, but because this reader has already decided he wants the Costa Brava and is now deciding whether this campsite is the right one. The audit ranks proof of accommodation above proof of destination.

Shots the campsite needs to supply, in the audit’s own words

Staging. Two scenes, and they are unlike anything the other two audits propose: a family measuring the pitch with a tape measure beside their caravan, and a close-up of the pool opening-hours sign showing 9:00-19:00. The audit’s reason for the second is that it proves Ordnung and answers a service-availability question this market asks before booking.

What the audit asks the campsite for

Rewriting a page is half the job. The other half is naming what the page cannot say because nobody has supplied it. Four items are requested from the operator. Two of them block the rewrite: no wording can substitute for a tariff grid or a floor plan.

High priority - the price grid

Complete grid by week and accommodation type, bungalow categories and pitch types.

The audit ties it to the quality-price calculation this market performs before booking, not to price sensitivity.

High priority - dimensions and equipment

Exact dimensions and equipment list for each bungalow category.

Filed under Gründlichkeit: space and functionality are verified before committing.

Medium priority - environmental certifications

Confirmation of any certification held, EU Ecolabel or Catalan sustainability label.

The audit’s wording is worth keeping: documented sustainability is a trust signal, not decoration.

Medium priority - pool heating and hours

Heating status and precise opening hours per month.

Critical for family planning; its absence, the audit notes, creates uncertainty rather than curiosity.
